en.Wedoany.com Reported - German asset manager EB-SIM has acquired an 80% stake in Finland's Icecreek Energy II battery energy storage project portfolio through its closed-end Luxembourg infrastructure fund, EB Energy Transition Europe. The Finnish energy storage portfolio totals 34 MW/89 MWh, with the transaction amount undisclosed.

The Icecreek Energy II energy storage portfolio includes five independent battery energy storage projects in western Finland, with an expected operational lifespan of 15 years. The projects will utilize lithium-ion battery technology and be directly connected to the medium-voltage grid of the local distribution system operator. Apart from cells sourced from a Chinese manufacturer, the remaining battery energy storage system components will be primarily manufactured in Europe.

The first project has commenced construction and is scheduled to achieve commercial operation in January 2027, with the remaining projects expected to be completed by June 2027. Finnish energy storage company Cactos is responsible for project installation and long-term maintenance. With the equity transaction of the 89 MWh Finnish energy storage portfolio completed, demand for battery systems, grid connection equipment, system integration, and grid regulation services will continue to be released.
