200MW/400MWh Energy Storage Station of Sungrow New Energy in Hefei, China, Connected to Grid and Put into Operation
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The 200MW/400MWh energy storage station invested and constructed by Sungrow New Energy was officially connected to the grid and put into operation recently in Huagang Town, Feixi County, Hefei City. This project is the largest new-type energy storage station connected to the grid in Hefei to date. After being connected to the local power grid, the station serves multiple functions, including power supply assurance, system regulation, and participation in electricity market trading.
As a key supporting project for Hefei's power grid to meet peak summer demand, the station is connected to the backbone grid in the southwest of the city and features millisecond-level response capability. Once operational, it can instantly smooth out output fluctuations from renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power, and release clean electricity during midday and evening peak demand periods, thereby enhancing regional power supply reliability and grid operation flexibility.




The station adopts Sungrow's PowerTitan 3.0 liquid-cooled energy storage system, featuring 600Ah+ laminated large-format cells and a thermal-electrical separation structure design. Through targeted high-temperature airflow exhaust technology, the system physically mitigates risks of thermal runaway and short circuits, thereby elevating the system's safety level.
The station is equipped with the PowMart power trading decision support system. This system integrates multi-dimensional real-time data including weather, load, and market clearing conditions, utilizes AI algorithms to forecast time-of-use electricity price trends, and dynamically generates charging and discharging strategies, which can increase arbitrage revenue by more than 15% compared to traditional operation modes. This capability signifies that the role of energy storage facilities is shifting from passive regulation to active participation in the electricity market, and also provides a replicable pathway for the commercial operation of new-type energy storage.
In the energy conversion segment, the station is configured with the new-generation "1+X" modular liquid-cooled PCS, achieving a full-load efficiency of 98.5%, meaning that for every 100 kWh charged, 98.5 kWh can be discharged. AI bionic thermal balance technology is employed for precise temperature field control, further reducing auxiliary system energy consumption by more than 10% compared to the original baseline. Through digital simulation-based optimization design, the amount of DC cabling is reduced by approximately 56% compared to conventional solutions, correspondingly shortening the construction period.
The commissioning of the Feixi Huagang energy storage station is part of Hefei's energy storage deployment. In recent years, Hefei has promoted the construction of energy storage projects across multiple scenarios, including peak shaving and frequency regulation on the generation side, flexible regulation on the grid side, and demand response on the user side, to support the integration of a high proportion of renewable energy, the safe and stable operation of the power system, and the low-carbon energy transition.
