en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 28, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) won the 265MW/530MWh standalone battery energy storage system project tendered by SJVN in Haryana, India, at a transaction price of 235,000 rupees/MW per month. The project consists of two energy storage facilities, with capacities of 250MW/500MWh and 15MW/30MWh respectively, and the total tender value is approximately 6.36 billion rupees.

The project adopts India's Viability Gap Funding (VGF) mechanism, with a maximum subsidy of 1.8 million rupees per MWh. Both energy storage facilities are planned to be located in the 220kV substation area near Haryana Power Generation Corporation's 710MW Panipat thermal power plant. NIRL will be responsible for the construction of the energy storage system and its connection to the state transmission network, including associated bay construction. The project land will be identified and allocated by Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVNL).

SJVN will sign a 12-year battery energy storage purchase agreement with NIRL. According to the tender conditions, the energy storage system must complete two full charge-discharge cycles per day, and the monthly minimum system availability shall not be lower than 95%. The project will draw power from and feed power back to the UHBVNL grid.

This project corresponds to SJVN's Haryana 265MW/530MWh standalone BESS tender issued on July 24 this year. The tender adopted a tariff-based competitive developer selection mechanism and incorporated the VGF support framework; after two extensions following the bid deadline, it was finally extended to September 4.
