en.Wedoany.com Reported - Octillion Power Systems has inaugurated its third electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, India. The plant spans over 13,000 square meters and was converted from a vacant building into an operational factory in less than eight months, with the new capacity primarily targeting the growing demand for battery systems in passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and public transportation.

At full capacity, the facility can produce more than 48,000 battery systems annually, corresponding to an energy storage capacity exceeding 3 GWh. Together with the Halol plant, Octillion's combined annual capacity in India is expected to surpass 150,000 battery systems, or approximately 9 GWh. The company's battery systems cover passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, trucks, and buses, with plans to serve a broader range of automakers.

According to data from market research firm JMK Research, India's electric vehicle sales grew 43% year-over-year in the first half of 2026, totaling over 1.54 million units. Among these, electric passenger vehicle sales grew 83%, electric bus sales grew 42%, and cumulative electric truck sales grew by more than 300%. Adoption of electric trucks by logistics and industrial fleets continues to rise, and policy targets for electrification by 2030 are expected to further drive local demand for battery systems.

The Halol facility integrates battery production processes, thermal modeling capabilities, and integrated battery management systems. Octillion stated that the new plant helps shorten lead times and enhance supply flexibility for automakers. Company management noted that this expansion reflects a long-term commitment to local sourcing, quality control, and engineering talent, with the goal of scaling supply while reducing customers' exposure to global supply chain volatility.
