en.Wedoany.com Reported - Oldcastle Infrastructure, in collaboration with Opti, a developer of digital adaptive stormwater control solutions based in Boston, has launched the SmartCapture system. This system integrates precast concrete structures with continuous monitoring and adaptive control technology, transforming runoff control from passive assets into actively managed systems.

Oldcastle-Infrastructure-Smart

Matika Made, President of Oldcastle Infrastructure's Water Quality business, stated that SmartCapture combines stormwater storage with adaptive control in a way not previously seen in the market, offering a practical pathway for engineers, municipalities, and developers facing pressures from smaller footprints, tighter budgets, and changing weather patterns to enhance performance, simplify construction, and build more resilient stormwater systems.

Oldcastle Infrastructure and Opti recently implemented a flood control project using this technology at Lake Sal in Statesboro, Georgia. SmartCapture enables property owners to monitor weather forecast data and downstream conditions while assessing the feasibility of lowering the lake level to create up to 20 acre-feet of additional storage capacity.

Viktor Hlas, President of Opti, noted that by embedding adaptive control directly into the storage system, SmartCapture makes advanced stormwater management more accessible and scalable. Together with Oldcastle Infrastructure, the company is helping clients move beyond outdated passive designs toward modern infrastructure that can respond in real time to changing conditions. He expects this approach to become the standard, with people in the future looking back and wondering why things were done differently.
