en.Wedoany.com Reported - PT ITSEC Asia Tbk (IDX: CYBR), in collaboration with the Indonesian Digital and Cybersecurity Association (ADIGSI), held the National Cybersecurity Campaign (GNKS) Roadshow in Makassar on June 25, 2026, aiming to strengthen the preparedness of organizations in eastern Indonesia in the face of increasingly frequent cybersecurity crises.

ITSEC Asia Brings Cybersecurity Resilience Movement to Eastern Indonesia

Held at the Novotel Makassar Hotel, the event featured an executive tabletop exercise designed to help decision-makers gain direct insight into cybersecurity incident handling procedures. GNKS is an annual initiative running throughout 2026, previously held in Banten on April 30, 2026.

The increase in cyberattacks in Indonesia served as the primary backdrop for this event. Throughout 2025, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) recorded over 5.16 billion anomalous traffic instances, indicating that cyber activities require more serious attention from all parties. This situation underscores that the ability to respond to incidents is as important as preventive measures.

Unlike ordinary seminars, the executive tabletop exercise divided participants into groups. They went through five simulation stages, including understanding the threat context, formulating mitigation measures, conducting crisis simulations, demonstrating decision-making, and engaging in collective evaluation and reflection. This approach helped participants understand how incidents evolve and how to respond appropriately.

Patrick Dannacher, President Director of ITSEC Asia, stated that cybersecurity threats have become a management-level concern. He noted that when an incident occurs, its impact can ripple through business operations, customer service, and even organizational reputation. Therefore, preparedness for cyber crises cannot be solely the responsibility of the IT department; decision-makers also need to understand how to respond quickly and accurately to such situations. Dannacher believes that the ability to respond to incidents is equally important as the ability to prevent them. He said that through GNKS, the hope is that participants leave with something directly applicable. The event not only discusses threats but also helps organizations map risks, design security solutions, and improve decision-making capabilities during incident response. The goal is simple: to help organizations be prepared.

In addition to the simulation, participants received three outputs applicable to their respective organizations. First, a security process—a risk matrix for prioritizing security based on the impact and probability of incidents. Second, a security design concept—a framework for implementing security that describes data flows, trust boundaries, and authentication mechanisms. Third, a security skills assessment and recognition—measuring the improvement in participant capabilities.

Slamet Aji Pamungkas, Deputy for Economic Cybersecurity and Cryptography at BSSN, stated that capacity building is an important component of maintaining the sustainable development of the national digital economy. The widespread adoption of digital technology needs to be balanced by enhancing the ability to address various cyber risks. This effort requires the participation of all stakeholders to ensure Indonesia's digital space develops in a healthy, secure, and trustworthy manner.

Firlie Ganinduto, General Chairperson of ADIGSI, added that raising cybersecurity awareness needs to reach more regions and industrial sectors. Many organizations are already aware of the importance of cybersecurity, but the next challenge is translating this awareness into concrete action. Through GNKS, the aim is to provide a practical forum where participants can learn from each other and bring the outcomes back to their respective organizations.

Ganinduto believes that Makassar holds a strategic position as an economic growth center in eastern Indonesia, making it a suitable location to expand the cybersecurity campaign. Indonesia is a primary target for cyberattacks in Southeast Asia, making initiatives like GNKS increasingly critical. The National Cybersecurity Campaign is an initiative driven by ITSEC Asia and ADIGSI throughout 2026. Following Banten and Makassar, the series of events will continue to Pontianak, Bali, Yogyakarta, and Medan, reflecting a commitment to extending cybersecurity education to more regions in Indonesia.

Patrick Dannacher hopes more organizations will participate in this campaign. He pointed out that cybersecurity concerns the common good and helps enhance trust in Indonesia's digital economy.
