en.Wedoany.com Reported - Broadcom has joined the "Open Secure AI Alliance" launched by Nvidia, with its software infrastructure division set to lead the alliance's open-source work focused on securing enterprise AI systems.

As the parent company of VMware, Broadcom entered the alliance late last week, alongside companies such as Netskope, Nutanix, and Akamai, bringing the alliance's membership from nearly 40 founding members to 74. Founding members include Cisco, Nokia, Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft, SK Telecom, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
Nvidia launched this alliance to promote an open defense framework around AI agents and to push back against the cybersecurity industry's reliance on a small number of closed, centrally controlled AI models.
Nvidia listed VMware as a Broadcom entity in the member roster, but a Broadcom executive clarified that it is actually the company's infrastructure software group leading its participation in the alliance.
Chris Wolf, Global Head of AI and Advanced Services for Broadcom's VMware division, stated that Broadcom has long played a leadership role in advancing open, interoperable technology ecosystems, having been a top contributor to Kubernetes for the past decade, with projects such as Harbor, Antrea, Velero, and Contour originating from its engineering teams. Broadcom is also the steward and primary maintainer of widely adopted open-source software including Spring, Spring AI, and RabbitMQ.
In April, Broadcom became one of the founding members of Anthropic's Project Glasswing security initiative. In response to SDxCentral, Wolf said that in the months following the project's announcement, Broadcom has continued to collaborate with industry peers, enterprise organizations, and government agencies, sharing findings and best practices; the rapidly evolving security landscape gives Broadcom the opportunity to bring this expertise to the Open Secure AI Alliance.
Wolf noted that virtualization defines how Broadcom approaches AI protection. Virtual machines (VMs) have long been the primary mechanism for isolating runtimes between tenants, across security boundaries, and in on-premises and public cloud environments. When models, agents, and related services run in isolated, policy-governed environments, the blast radius of any failure or intrusion is contained by design. VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) already provides AI security updates in isolation, encryption, access control, threat scanning, and traffic governance, with these capabilities reflected in products such as Avi Load Balancer, Tanzu Platform, and vDefend.
