Oman's O-Green Plans to Deploy Over 200MW of AI Data Centers by 2028

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 21, O-Green, an Oman state-backed clean energy platform, disclosed that it is developing AI-ready data center projects in Oman, Spain and other markets, with plans to reach more than 200MW of service-ready data center capacity by 2028. O-Green's data center business targets AI, cloud computing and hyperscale computing workloads, and is developed in synergy with its existing renewable energy and energy storage projects.

O-Green currently incorporates its data center business into the O-Green Compute & Data Centers segment, alongside its two other major segments: international green energy project development and green technology manufacturing. The company's existing energy development portfolio spans 12 countries with a total scale of more than 11GW, including more than 3.3GW of secured wind and solar projects and more than 2.3GWh of battery energy storage.

In Oman itself, O-Green is advancing 2.7GW of continuous renewable energy projects in Duqm and Mahout, with a technology mix including solar, wind and battery energy storage, designed to provide approximately 770MW of stable renewable power. O-Green has included data centers and high-performance computing facilities as potential power consumers for this project.

O-Green is backed by the Oman Investment Authority system and was established in 2025. Its energy business also includes platforms such as Naqaa Sustainable Energy, Mawarid Green Technologies and SolarWadi. Naqaa is responsible for large-scale renewable energy project development, EPC, power generation, transmission and logistics; Mawarid is building a wind turbine manufacturing base in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, with a first phase covering 550,000 square meters, an investment of approximately OMR 70 million, and a planned annual capacity of approximately 1,100MW; SolarWadi is responsible for the development and operation of commercial and industrial solar and energy storage projects.

O-Green has also recently been advancing data center projects in Spain and other European markets, with plans to integrate renewable energy, battery energy storage, land and data center infrastructure into a single development system. The company's currently announced 2028 capacity target is on a global portfolio basis, and the specific standalone data center capacity in Oman, project locations and individual investment amounts have not yet been disclosed separately.
