en.Wedoany.com Reported - SIBUR has developed a new bimodal high-density polyethylene grade, HD21550 CC, for producing bottle caps with a diameter of 38 mm. This product can be used for sealing juice, dairy products, tea beverages, and other drink products.

The development of the new grade fully considers the high requirements of closure solution manufacturers regarding processing stability on efficient production lines, geometric shape retention, sealing performance, and compliance with hygiene and sensory standards in the beverage market. HD21550 CC can be used to produce bottle caps through both injection molding and compression molding processes, demonstrating good processing performance and mold filling effects in cap production.

Kermen Bovaldinova, PhD in Chemical Sciences and Director of Product Development at SIBUR PolyLab, stated that the advantage of bimodal polyethylene lies in its ability to simultaneously ensure good rheological properties during processing and excellent mechanical properties in the final product. HD21550 CC can produce bottle caps that maintain their shape during transportation and use, ensuring sealing reliability and product integrity throughout the shelf life. The hygiene characteristics of this grade meet the requirements of beverage manufacturers and do not affect the taste or odor of the beverages.

The development of this new grade enables processors to use domestically sourced raw materials on existing equipment, thereby reducing dependence on imported alternatives and lowering logistics costs. The expansion of SIBUR's product grade series for beverage closures allows processors to select the optimal raw material based on specific requirements of the final product, while providing end consumers with reliable packaging and consistent quality assurance.

The research and development work for this new grade was jointly conducted by scientists from SIBUR PolyLab's Moscow Application Development Center and experts from ZapSibNeftekhim. The grade has successfully passed certification among customers in the beverage packaging sector and is ready for industrial use.
