en.Wedoany.com Reported - Metsä Group has initiated a collaboration with Finnish artificial intelligence and quantum company Qutwo to introduce next-generation AI into core forest industry processes, aiming to deepen internal AI applications and tackle more complex challenges.

Qutwo will provide Metsä Group with its AI and quantum platform, Qutwo OS. This solution, described as next-generation AI, can simultaneously consider a broader range of variables and optimize complex systems.

The initial collaboration initiatives will focus on two areas: improving productivity in paper mill processing lines, particularly in the tissue paper conversion stage where base paper is transformed into finished products; and optimizing wood procurement. In wood procurement, AI will be used to balance multiple factors, thereby guiding the utilization of wood from forests to paper mills more efficiently.

Metsä Group expects that this collaboration will enhance the added value of wood and reduce variable costs from forest to paper mill, thereby strengthening its international competitiveness. Currently, Metsä Group already applies AI in areas such as predicting forest damage, pricing wood trade and forest cultivation services, and assessing forest biodiversity.
