China Haiyang Nuclear Power Unit 4 CB20 Thin-Wall Module Hoisting Completed
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On June 29, with a series of coordinated actions including lifting, hovering, rotating, and hook release, CNNC 24 successfully completed the hoisting of the CB20 module for Haiyang Nuclear Power Unit 4. This milestone marks the full entry of the Haiyang Nuclear Power Phase II project into the installation and commissioning stage.
The CB20 module features a thin-wall annular structure, approximately 26 meters in diameter and 10 meters in height, with a total hoisting weight of about 419 tons. It is a key component of the passive containment cooling system. Due to its large size, the module is prone to structural deformation from uneven stress during hoisting. Additionally, the interlocking arrangement of over a hundred sub-modules imposes stringent requirements on assembly precision, technical control, and stability during high-altitude positioning.
Facing multiple challenges, the project team, under the guidance of the company's Party Committee, focused on three dimensions—construction methods, process innovation, and organizational management—to tackle each difficulty with reform-driven determination.

Innovative Construction Methods: Promoting "Integrated Assembly and Safety." To address coordination challenges in complex work areas, the project team fully implemented the "Integrated Assembly and Safety" construction model. The research team worked on the front lines, coordinated planning, and continuously iterated and optimized construction logic, effectively breaking down process barriers. Through multi-work-area coordination and bilateral simultaneous advancement, seamless integration of prefabrication and on-site installation was achieved, significantly improving overall construction and hoisting efficiency.
Promoting Smart Equipment: Strengthening Quality Defenses. The project team replaced manual welding with intelligent rail-mounted MIG automatic welding equipment, greatly enhancing weld formation stability and overall assembly precision. This was complemented by specialized anti-deformation fixtures and digital 3D measurement methods, enabling closed-loop control of dimensional deviations throughout the process and firmly maintaining module manufacturing quality standards.
Party Building Leading the Charge: Unblocking Coordination Bottlenecks. The project team transformed the tradition of "establishing Party branches at the grassroots level" into practical motivation for solving frontline issues. They designated Party member responsibility zones, implemented task-based contracting and problem supervision, and converted complex construction tasks into daily checklists, ensuring issues were resolved and closed within the day. This provided solid organizational support for high-precision module hoisting.
CNNC 24 will continue to deepen technological innovation and spare no effort in advancing the high-quality construction of the Haiyang Nuclear Power project, contributing solid strength to the high-quality development of nuclear energy during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period.
