en.Wedoany.com Reported - In June 2026, at the Hillhead construction machinery exhibition held in Derbyshire, UK, LiuGong's DR50CE full-battery electric rigid dump truck made its debut, becoming the first fully electric rigid dump truck ever exhibited at the show. With a load capacity of 50 tons, the model is produced at LiuGong's main factory in Liuzhou, Guangxi. Harry Mellor, LiuGong's UK Sales Director, stated that the DR50CE has already been adopted by European customers, with small-scale purchases by Norway's Rental Group and others.

The DR50CE features a series dual-motor direct drive design, with a peak torque of 13,200 N·m. Its power battery is a CATL 423 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, paired with a motor rated at 500 kW and peaking at 1,200 kW. Under downhill conditions with a gradient of 6% to 8%, motor regeneration enables near-zero energy consumption. The vehicle is equipped with air suspension, a digital instrument cluster, and a large central control screen, significantly enhancing driving comfort.

LiuGong and Vital Power Group jointly showcased the VPG SiteCharge 200 kW mobile battery energy storage charging system at the exhibition, enabling flexible recharging at mining sites. Additionally, LiuGong has partnered with Kempower and DENS Powerhub to provide fully electric vehicle charging solutions for customers in the UK and Europe. The exhibited DR50CE already features the Holcim logo on its body and will be delivered directly to Holcim's operational sites after the exhibition. Mellor revealed that this equipment is part of Holcim's broader investment in battery-electric equipment across Europe. According to LiuGong's calculations, under ideal operating conditions, the total cost of ownership can be reduced by up to 80% compared to conventional diesel trucks.
