Tenaris Invests Over $90 Million to Upgrade Steelmaking and Seamless Pipe Production in Pennsylvania, USA
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Tenaris will invest over $90 million to modernize its steelmaking and seamless steel pipe production facilities in Pennsylvania, USA, to expand automation and production capacity, meeting the growing demand from the U.S. oil and gas industry.

The funds will be used to upgrade the Koppel steel mill and the Ambridge seamless pipe plant. Automation and equipment improvements are expected to increase productivity, enhance reliability, and improve employee safety. This upgrade is a follow-up investment on top of the approximately $150 million Tenaris has already invested since acquiring these facilities in 2020.
Planned upgrades include improvements to the electric arc furnace at the Koppel mill, increasing ladle capacity, and adding a scrap yard; the Ambridge plant will have a new bar cutting area to streamline material handling between the two plants and improve manufacturing efficiency.
Tenaris also plans to upgrade the scrap shredder at a recycling operation near the Koppel mill through its subsidiary Steel Recycling Services, following the acquisition of SA Recycling. The company states that this investment will further strengthen the vertically integrated manufacturing process.
Guillermo Moreno, President of Tenaris USA, stated that this improvement plan is another important step in realizing the long-term vision for the Ambridge and Koppel facilities. The company remains focused on supplying domestically manufactured products to U.S. oil and gas operators and continues to invest in automation and production efficiency.
Construction is expected to begin in the coming months, with most upgrades scheduled for completion in the second half of 2027.
