en.Wedoany.com Reported - Southeast University and ZTE recently jointly announced that the "AI 10G All-Optical Campus Demonstration Network" built by both parties has been officially deployed and operational at the Sipailou Campus of Southeast University. Centered on 50G-PON 10G optical network technology, this project has created a smart education digital infrastructure covering all scenarios of teaching, research, and office work for this 120-year-old "Double First-Class" university.

The demonstration network fully covers core areas such as the expert building, teaching buildings, and dormitory buildings. The network adopts 50G-PON technology, achieving three-generation five-mode integration and 50G expansion channel upgrades, and integrates FTTR-B, Wi-Fi 7, and AI intelligent scheduling capabilities to build a "minimalist, green, and agile" campus network architecture. Measured data shows that both uplink and downlink rates exceed 10G, with end-to-end latency as low as 0.1 milliseconds. Leveraging three core capabilities—AI roaming with zero wait, AI anti-interference with zero interruption, and AI RF optimization—network throughput has increased by 25% compared to traditional solutions, achieving seamless full-area coverage and maintaining zero congestion under high-concurrency scenarios, providing stable support for various campus services.
In research scenarios, 50G ultra-broadband access enables high-speed transmission of massive research data, opening a link between the campus supercomputing center and the large model base, forming a fast channel for "data-computing power-industrial applications." A postdoctoral researcher at Southeast University stated that transferring large datasets previously took a significant amount of time, but now it can be completed almost instantaneously, effectively bridging the gap between research work and computing resources and enhancing innovation efficiency.
In teaching scenarios, the 10G optical network, combined with the AI smart research and training platform, creates a delay-free, immersive interactive teaching space. At the Southeast University MBA Center, 4K ultra-high-definition board content can be synchronized in real time, 3D models and virtual simulation content can be presented without loss, and cross-campus interactive teaching runs smoothly without stuttering, breaking the spatial and technical limitations of traditional classrooms and enhancing the teacher-student experience. A Southeast University student noted that whether for daily study, online meetings, or high-concurrency classes, the network remains smooth and stable, silently supporting focused research and learning like water and electricity.
This collaboration represents an upgrade of the campus network and a model of cooperation between universities and enterprises in building a new educational infrastructure. The project, based on 50G-PON technology combined with 10G all-optical, Wi-Fi 7, and AI intelligent scheduling, achieves seamless network coverage and intelligent flow control, operating stably under high concurrency, providing a sample for a high-speed, intelligent modern smart campus.
