U.S. materials technology company 3M signs multi-year partnership with Cadillac Formula 1 Team

en.Wedoany.com Reported - U.S. materials technology company 3M (NYSE: MMM) and the Cadillac Formula 1® Team announced a multi-year global partnership on June 30, 2026. Under the agreement, 3M will serve as the team's Official Material Science Partner.

Founded in 1902 and headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA, 3M is a multinational corporation with businesses spanning industrial, safety, healthcare, consumer goods, and other sectors. The Cadillac Formula 1 Team, jointly established by TWG Motorsports and General Motors, entered the FIA Formula One World Championship for the first time in the 2026 season, becoming the first new team added to the championship since 2016. The team operates bases in Indianapolis, Indiana; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Silverstone, Northamptonshire, UK.

As the Official Material Science Partner, 3M's scientists and engineers will work closely with the Cadillac Formula 1 Team to support car development, performance enhancement, and operational optimization. Initial collaboration will focus on lightweight materials, bonding and surface treatment, manufacturing process optimization, laboratory testing, and trackside support. In Formula 1, every detail is tested under extreme conditions, and only the highest-performance technologies can provide a material advantage.

The most effective solutions can be rapidly transferred and scaled to global automotive manufacturers, driving the development of next-generation vehicles. 3M will also leverage F1's global platform to enhance brand awareness through car and team branding; the Cadillac Formula 1 Team will utilize 3M's leading R&D capabilities to explore further performance improvement areas, including chassis development, advanced materials research, and other technical support.
