Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 10, Coromandel International Limited, a major agri-solutions provider in India, and Ma’aden, a leading global producer of phosphate fertilizers, have deepened their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the long-term supply of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and NP/NPK fertilizers. The agreement was formalized on April 9, 2025, by Narayanan Vellayan, Director of Strategic Sourcing at Coromandel, and Saud Al Tamimi, Director of Fertiliser Sales Commercial in Ma’aden’s Phosphate Business Unit.

The two companies have maintained a strong relationship over the years, with Ma’aden serving as a key supplier of ammonia to Coromandel. This new MoU builds on that foundation, ensuring a steady and sustainable flow of vital fertilizers to support India’s agricultural sector. The collaboration aims to address recent challenges in DAP availability in India, caused by global supply issues, and enhance fertilizer access for farmers.

Narayanan Vellayan emphasized the partnership’s value, stating: “In recent times, DAP availability in India has been impacted due to global supply disruptions. This strategic partnership with Ma’aden is a natural extension of our longstanding relationship and will help Coromandel ensure timely availability of DAP and complex fertilisers to the Indian farming community.” He added that Coromandel, connected to over 4.5 million farmers, remains dedicated to supporting Indian agriculture alongside Ma’aden.

Saud Al Tamimi echoed this commitment, saying: “Ma’aden has been the largest supplier of phosphate fertilisers to India for over a decade. We are expanding our production capacity from 6 million tonnes to 9 million tonnes in the near term, reinforcing our commitment to serve the growing needs of India’s agriculture sector.” This expansion underscores Ma’aden’s focus on meeting India’s increasing demand for fertilizers.

The signing event was overseen by S. Sankarasubramanian, Managing Director and CEO of Coromandel, and Anas Al Bassam, Senior Vice President of Commercial at Ma’aden’s Phosphate Business Unit. Both leaders highlighted the potential to broaden cooperation beyond phosphates and raw materials, exploring joint efforts in research, innovation, and specialty products to promote sustainable farming practices. Senior officials from both organizations attended, reinforcing their shared resolve to bolster this strategic alliance and contribute to India’s food security.
