en.Wedoany.com Reported - Leapmotor announced in July 2026 a significant price reduction of £3,000 for its T03 electric hatchback, bringing the starting price down to just £12,995. This not only makes it the cheapest electric vehicle on the UK market but also the most affordable five-seat passenger car—the last time the average price of a new car in the UK was lower than this figure was back in 1988.

This price cut is made possible by Leapmotor doubling its "Leap-Grant" subsidy from £1,500 to £3,000. The new discount applies to all models purchased after July 1, with no quantity limits. In terms of size, the T03 directly competes with the Dacia Spring, and the new price makes it nearly £3,000 cheaper than its main rival, while also offering advantages in range and features. The T03 can travel up to 165 miles on a single charge and comes standard with a 10.1-inch infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, LED headlights, rearview camera, alloy wheels, and keyless start. It also includes lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring as standard.

Leapmotor, a subsidiary of automotive manufacturing group Stellantis, has registered 10,000 vehicles since its UK launch last year. The T03, along with the C10 and B10, belongs to the brand's dedicated electric vehicle lineup. Damien Daly, Managing Director of Leapmotor UK, stated that when the industry-first Leap-Grant was launched a year ago, it provided simplicity, clarity, and financial savings for customers confused by government schemes.

At £12,995, the Leapmotor T03 is highly compelling in terms of pure value for money and may spark competition in the UK market. The ball is now in Dacia's court, and it remains to be seen whether this budget brand is willing or able to turn the tide with significant discounts on the Spring.
