en.Wedoany.com Reported - Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment estimates that the country's fruit and vegetable export turnover in the second quarter of 2026 will be approximately $2.18 billion. In the first six months of this year, Vietnam's cumulative fruit and vegetable exports reached $3.65 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.8%, maintaining a high growth momentum in the agricultural and rural development sector.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment predicts that the water supply for fruit and vegetable cultivation will be sufficient in the second quarter, and the market will remain basically stable, with no commodity shortages or abnormal price fluctuations. However, as many fruits enter the peak harvest season, if preservation, processing, and sales capabilities fail to keep pace with production growth, some localities may face downward price pressure. Thanks to ample supply and stable demand, fruit and vegetable commodities are expected to continue growing in 2026 without exerting significant pressure on the overall domestic consumer price level.

According to data from the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, durian exports in the first five months of this year reached nearly $562 million, a year-on-year increase of about 46%, continuing to lead the industry in export value. Meanwhile, due to strong demand from markets such as China, the United States, and South Korea, exports of commodities like coconuts and lychees also achieved double-digit growth.

Deputy Director of the Plant Protection and Cultivation Department Nguyen Quoc Manh stated that China remains the most important market for Vietnam's fruits and vegetables, with export turnover to China maintaining an average annual growth rate of 65% to 70% in recent years. The development of the fruit and vegetable industry is closely tied to maintaining and expanding market access in China. The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is conducting market-opening negotiations for exporting various fruits to high-value markets such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Australia, aiming to reduce dependence on a single market and diversify sales channels.

Nguyen Quoc Manh said that the fruit and vegetable industry will change its production methods and undergo a comprehensive transformation of the entire value chain, from production, processing, and market to finance. The goal is to improve quality, increase added value, move towards environmentally friendly development, enhance competitiveness, strengthen adaptability to market fluctuations, and improve fruit farmers' incomes. While developing deep processing and opening export markets, the cultivation industry, including fruits and vegetables, will gradually shift towards green and emission-reducing production models, ensuring increased output, quality, and economic benefits under this premise.
