en.Wedoany.com Reported - Finnish energy company Gasum has signed a long-term agreement with Norwegian ferry operator Fjord1 to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) for ferries operating the daily Arsvågen–Mortavika route. This route connects Stavanger and Haugesund on the E39 highway in southern Norway. The agreement covers fuel supply for four main ferries and one backup ferry.

Jacob Granqvist, Vice President of Gasum's Maritime division, stated that Fjord1 has chosen Gasum as the LNG supplier for this important ferry route, highlighting the company's ability to provide reliable LNG deliveries for demanding maritime operations through a fully integrated and seamless supply chain.

Tor Kristoffersen, Regional Operations Manager at Fjord1, noted that for Fjord1, reliable fuel supply is crucial for maintaining safe and predictable operations on one of Norway's most important ferry routes. This agreement supports the company's focus on operational reliability, efficient logistics, and its long-term vision of providing safe and environmentally friendly transportation for customers, contracting authorities, and partners.

The Arsvågen–Mortavika ferry connection is a vital transport link on Norway's west coast. Gasum will refuel the ferries via truck-to-ship operations at both ends of the route, requiring precise scheduling to ensure smooth ferry operations. Gasum's extensive network of terminals, vessels, and trucks makes it an ideal partner for operators like Fjord1, who demand high reliability in fuel supply. Gasum supplies LNG and bio-LNG to various maritime customers in Northwest Europe, from service vessels to container ships. Its bunkering services allow for a seamless transition to low-emission or negative-emission bio-LNG, which can be used entirely or blended with LNG in any proportion.
