en.Wedoany.com Reported - Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) has activated an additional 100MHz of 5G spectrum in the 3.3GHz to 3.4GHz band (commonly referred to as F-Zero), and confirmed that mobile operator U Mobile officially exited its wholesale network on June 30, 2026.
Combined with DNB's existing 3.4–3.5 GHz spectrum, the newly added 100MHz doubles the company's network capacity to 200 MHz of contiguous mid-band spectrum. DNB stated that the expanded spectrum will support the company's entry into a new development phase focused on enterprise applications, and drive AI-powered services, industrial IoT, and advanced automation technologies.
DNB CEO Azman Ismail said the company is entering a new phase characterized by greater capacity, deeper collaboration, and more precise execution. As demand grows and new digital opportunities emerge in AI and enterprise digitalization, DNB is committed to delivering a network that not only meets current needs but also underpins Malaysia's digital future.
Over 50 sites have already been upgraded, with further activations planned. These upgrades will enhance performance in high-traffic locations and support more advanced, data-intensive application scenarios.

Despite losing a major wholesale customer, the additional spectrum enables DNB to maintain competitive service quality. DNB confirmed that U Mobile's exit has not affected its network operations or service continuity for other wholesale customers, including CelcomDigi, Maxis, and YTL. In line with the government's transition to a dual 5G network model with independent networks, U Mobile exited DNB's 5G network on June 30, 2026. DNB's network operations, coverage commitments, and service delivery will remain uninterrupted throughout this transition.
Last year, U Mobile sold its stake in DNB to other shareholders in order to operate Malaysia's second 5G network. In December, Malaysia's Ministry of Finance exercised a put option, requiring the remaining three operators to purchase its ordinary shares, as part of a step to transform DNB into a private entity. Currently, CelcomDigi, Maxis, and YTL collectively hold 68.82% of DNB's shares, each with a 22.94% stake. These three operators have committed to cumulative investments exceeding 2 billion Malaysian ringgit (approximately USD 490.17 million).
According to DNB, these three operators now serve a combined 30 million users, representing the vast majority of the country's 30.3 million 5G subscribers, and cover 88% of the population. DNB stated that it has played a key role in this progress, delivering world-class 5G connectivity at one of the lowest wholesale costs per GB globally.
