en.Wedoany.com Reported - Norwegian rolling stock leasing company Norske tog has returned the first upgraded Class 72 train to passenger service, following modification work at Filipstad.

The upgrade program covers older vehicles in Norske tog's fleet. Modifications to the first Class 72 train include upgrades to auxiliary converters, overhaul of the traction system, and correction of known faults and weak components. Norske tog stated that the upgrades also involve improvements to the cooling and ventilation systems, which had previously caused failures. The program aims to reduce technical faults and improve train availability.

Upgrade work on more Class 72 trains is ongoing, with Norske tog noting that this involves collaboration with operator Vy and supplier Dahlrail.

Test runs on the Dovre Line have resumed after a suspension, with additional test runs planned over the coming weekends to collect data for software improvements. The N05 testing program involves Norske tog, infrastructure manager Bane NOR, train manufacturer Alstom, and operator Vy. Norske tog stated that the trains are being tested before entering regular service in eastern Norway, while noting that delays may still occur during the testing phase.
