en.Wedoany.com Reported - Metroselskabet has issued two tenders for the first phase of the Copenhagen M5 metro line, with a total contract value of approximately €1.35 billion. The project will enhance metro connectivity in the Danish capital through new tunnels and transport infrastructure, with operations planned to begin in 2036.

The civil works contract, valued at around €800 million, covers two shield tunnels totaling approximately 7 kilometers, as well as five underground stations and one elevated station. The scope also includes approximately 2 kilometers of viaduct sections, two underground crossovers, five cross passages, one ramp, one terminal shaft, one elevated junction, short embankment sections, and a control and maintenance center. Following three years of market dialogue, Metroselskabet has incorporated target price models for electromechanical installation and construction works into the tender documents, reflecting feedback on contract models and risk allocation. The contract also includes binding carbon emission reduction requirements.

The transport systems contract, valued at approximately €550 million, involves the supply of 14 metro trains, signaling and control systems, platform screen doors, traction power supply, passenger information systems, SCADA, radio communications, and other related systems. The procurement follows a competitive dialogue procedure, allowing bidders to discuss solutions with Metroselskabet before final submission, facilitating market access and ensuring sufficient competition. New trains and technologies will support service delivery across the expanded network, with carbon emission management at the control and maintenance center also included as a requirement.

The full M5 metro line will be built in two phases, comprising nine stations covering existing areas and new urban development zones such as Kløverparken, Quintus, Refshaleøen, and Lynetteholm. The first phase includes six stations and associated infrastructure. Metroselskabet emphasizes the project's importance in enhancing overall network capacity, particularly on the harbor crossing section with high peak-hour demand. At Copenhagen Central Station, passengers can transfer between the M5, M3, and M4 metro lines, as well as regional, long-distance, and S-train services; DR Byen and Lergravsparken offer transfers to the M1 and M2 metro lines, respectively. Metroselskabet's Executive Director, Mikkel Kjær Jensen, stated that the new line will connect the city more closely, establishing stronger links between existing communities and new development areas.
