en.Wedoany.com Reported - Dutch shipping company Wagenborg has announced a further expansion of its multipurpose fleet through a strategic alliance with Carisbrooke Shipping. As part of the collaboration, Wagenborg will add up to 10 newly built 7,400 DWT 1A ice-class vessels.

This investment is part of Wagenborg's long-term fleet strategy, which focuses on standardization, operational efficiency, and reliability, aiming to position Wagenborg as a leading industrial maritime partner for Europe's export industry. The new vessels will be built at China's Dajin Heavy Industries shipyard, with design by Groot Ship Design and major equipment suppliers from Europe.

The first eight vessels are scheduled for delivery between the third quarter of 2027 and early 2029, with the remaining two to be delivered by mid-2029. With a deadweight tonnage of approximately 7,400 tons, these ships will gradually replace older, larger-tonnage vessels, contributing to a younger, more efficient, and future-proof fleet.

Under the cooperation arrangement, Carisbrooke will be responsible for technical and crew management, while Wagenborg will handle commercial management and integrate these vessels into its chartering operations. Carisbrooke CEO Helen Tveitan expressed delight in partnering with Wagenborg for this significant fleet expansion, noting that by combining both parties' experience in technical and crew management with Wagenborg's commercial platform, a solid foundation for long-term operational excellence is being laid. She added that these modern ice-class vessels reflect the two companies' shared commitment to quality and sustainability, and look forward to supporting Wagenborg's customers on key trade routes in the Baltic Sea and Europe.

The addition of these modern vessels will strengthen Wagenborg's position in the critical Baltic Sea market, where reliability under harsh conditions is essential for industrial supply chains.
