en.Wedoany.com Reported - In the first quarter of 2026, mining exports from Sonora, Mexico reached $988.7 million, a 33.8% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This data, from official statistics by Mexico's National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), ranks the state fourth nationally in mining exports.

The INEGI report shows that Sonora's mining exports in Q1 2026 significantly exceeded the $739.1 million recorded in the first three months of 2025, reflecting the vitality and growth trend of this key economic activity in the state. Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño noted that this growth is attributed to the government's economic development strategy aimed at enhancing regional competitiveness and attracting new investments. He stated that the export increase demonstrates that actions leveraging strategic advantages are generating tangible benefits for local residents.
In terms of sector share, mining accounted for 14.9% of Sonora's total export value in the quarter, firmly maintaining its position as the state's second-largest export industry, behind only manufacturing. Durazo Montaño also emphasized that Sonora maintains a leading position in national mining production, an advantage stemming from the continued consolidation of strategic projects in global advanced manufacturing, energy transition, and electric mobility ecosystems.
