en.Wedoany.com Reported - Atvos has held a groundbreaking ceremony for its first corn ethanol plant, located at the Santa Luzia facility in Nova Alvorada do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul. Atvos is one of Brazil's leading biofuel producers and plays a leading role in the energy transition. This project marks the official start of construction of the company's first energy transition complex, which integrates multiple renewable energy production routes at the same site. Plant construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, creating approximately 2,000 jobs during the construction phase. Once operational, the plant will have the capacity to process 642,000 tons of corn annually, producing 273,000 cubic meters of ethanol, 183,000 tons of DDG (animal nutrition by-product), and 13,000 tons of corn oil per year.

With the construction of the corn ethanol plant and the advancement of the biomethane project, the facility will gradually evolve into an integrated platform combining sugarcane, corn, bioelectricity, and biomethane, becoming Atvos's first energy transition complex. The company's CEO, Bruno Serapião, stated that the differentiating advantage lies not only in producing corn ethanol but also in the method of production. By integrating this operation into an established sugarcane plant, the project leverages industrial synergies, uses renewable energy from biomass, and reduces carbon intensity in production—this is the model supporting the development of the Santa Luzia facility into Atvos's first energy transition complex.

Mato Grosso do Sul Governor Eduardo Riedel stated at the ceremony that this is a rare integrated energy production center in Brazil, producing corn ethanol, sugarcane ethanol, and biomethane. In addition to creating jobs for the people, the project contributes to achieving carbon neutrality policies, which brings not only environmental benefits but also economic advantages. The governor noted that these substantial investments were attracted by a trusted environment, and against the positive backdrop of private capital's confidence in Mato Grosso do Sul, this represents new opportunities for employment, income, and improved quality of life.
