en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Legislative Assembly of Pará (Alepa) urgently approved a bill on Tuesday (30th), authorizing the state government to apply for BRL 76 million in financing from Caixa Econômica Federal to install solar energy systems in the state's public school network.

The plan, implemented by the State Department of Education (Secretaria de Estado de Educação, Sedec), aims to reduce electricity expenses, enhance environmental sustainability, and free up funds for educational investments.
In the first phase, the project will be implemented in the city of Belém, Pará, with plans to install 89 solar power plants totaling 9.26 MWp in capacity. The generated electricity will be shared through a net metering system to supply an additional 163 schools in the state network.
According to the Pará state government, this credit operation will benefit from subsidized interest rates, with a grace period of up to 48 months and an amortization period of up to 20 years. The model also requires a minimum counterpart funding of only 5% of the total investment.
"These conditions allow the state government to structure the operation with financing covering 95% of the project value, preserving current investment capacity and ensuring fiscal sustainability for contract signing," the state government explained.
In addition to reducing energy costs, the government expects to use the savings to improve teaching quality and advance technological modernization of schools. The project is also expected to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create job opportunities in the installation and maintenance of photovoltaic systems.
