en.Wedoany.com Reported - German specialty chemicals group Altana's business unit BYK has acquired Perisens, a company specializing in radar measurement systems used for quality assurance of painted plastic body parts on vehicles equipped with autonomous driving radar sensors.

Perisens' measurement and testing systems ensure that coating systems do not excessively attenuate radar signals or impair radar functionality. This acquisition will strategically expand BYK's measurement and testing instrument business and broaden its product portfolio through innovative technologies in the field of radar measurement. Founded in 2009 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich, Perisens will be integrated into BYK-Gardner, located in Geretsried, Bavaria.

Perisens holds patented technology for laboratory measurement equipment. Its Radome Measurement System product series, RMS-C and RMS-D, provides solutions for radomes ranging from development to mass production quality control. Since 2014, these RMS systems have been used globally by leading automotive manufacturers, radar sensor suppliers, plastic body parts suppliers, and paint and pigment manufacturers. Perisens' patented technology can be applied both in laboratory measurement equipment and in robot-controlled production line measurement cells for precise process control of coated plastic vehicle body parts.

In this acquisition, Perisens' existing employees will be taken on. Jörg Hinnerwisch, head of the BYK business unit, stated that Perisens' radar measurement instruments are a perfect complement to BYK-Gardner's innovative color and gloss measurement instruments, describing them as "cutting-edge technology with excellent future prospects."
