en.Wedoany.com Reported - CMA CGM has announced that, effective July 25, 2026, it will impose a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) of $1,000 per dry container on its shipping route connecting the west coast of India with the east coast of South America.

The company stated that this measure is part of its efforts to maintain service reliability for customers, and the surcharge will be mandatorily applied to short-term contracts, covering standard dry cargo, standard equipment, and special equipment. In terms of destination regions, almost all ports on the east coast of South America are affected by this increase, but the northern region of Brazil is explicitly exempt from this surcharge.

It should be noted that this $1,000 surcharge is in addition to the current basic freight rates on this route. CMA CGM also reminded that, in addition to the peak season surcharge, users may also be required to bear other standard industry operating charges, including bunker surcharges, terminal handling charges (THC) at both origin and destination ports, security fees, contingency fees, and local specific charges at various ports.
