en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 3, Japan's Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company signed a long-term procurement agreement with India's ACME Group to purchase approximately 100,000 tons of green methanol annually. The green methanol project, located in Odisha, India, has a planned annual capacity of 200,000 tons and is expected to commence commercial operations in 2030. The project's products will target demand for low-carbon fuels and chemical feedstocks.

The green methanol project is currently in the advancement stage. ACME has previously communicated with the Odisha Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation regarding project construction. Mitsubishi Gas Chemical will become a key off-taker for this green methanol project, with the relevant products expected to meet carbon intensity requirements of the European Union and future International Maritime Organization standards, applicable in scenarios such as marine fuel, chemical production, and low-carbon supply chains.

ACME has been steadily advancing green hydrogen, green ammonia, and green methanol projects in recent years. The Odisha project in India is a significant component of its green methanol business layout. The construction pace of this green methanol project will be determined based on subsequent engineering design, financing arrangements, equipment procurement, and market contract execution. The specific timeline for production launch is subject to further disclosure by the project developer.
