Named Marley, the train commenced operations on the Perth to Bunbury route on June 29, with a one-way journey time of approximately 2.5 hours.

The Australind train project includes a total of four diesel multiple units, with subsequent trains Kwilena, Koombana, and Linda to be phased into service according to manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and maintenance schedules. Each Australind train offers 158 seats, six wheelchair spaces, and accommodates up to 14 bicycles, along with accessible restrooms, Wi-Fi, luggage areas, and USB-C charging ports.

Alstom previously secured a contract with the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia to deliver 252 electric multiple unit vehicles and 12 diesel multiple unit vehicles at the Bellevue facility, with a contract value of approximately €800 million. The Australind train project is part of the Western Australian Railcar Program, which aims to revive local rail vehicle manufacturing and boost the local supply chain, employment, and training. Following the entry of the first Australind train into passenger service, the focus will shift to the delivery of remaining trains and ensuring stable operations.
