en.Wedoany.com Reported - QTM International Port Joint Stock Company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the QTM International Port project on July 5 in Phu My Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The total investment for the project is nearly VND 6.9 trillion, aiming to enhance port and logistics operations in the Cai Mep-Thi Vai region.

Vietnam's Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc (Member of the Politburo and Secretariat of the Party Central Committee), Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duc (Member of the Party Central Committee), Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Vo Van Minh (Member of the Party Central Committee), Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Van Thi Bach Tuyet, and Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Nguyen Doanh (Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee), along with other central and local officials, attended the ceremony.

In his speech, Hoang Nguyen Doanh pointed out that the demand for cargo transportation continues to grow, making investment in modern ports and logistics systems an urgent priority. In the first half of 2026, the volume of goods transported by sea and inland waterways in Ho Chi Minh City increased by 7.03% year-on-year. Ho Chi Minh City is committed to creating favorable conditions for the project to proceed as planned.

Vietnam's Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc emphasized that Vietnam, with a coastline of over 3,200 kilometers and a sea area of approximately 1 million square kilometers, has significant opportunities to develop its marine economy. The strategy for logistics service development up to 2030 aims to position Vietnam as a major logistics hub in the region and globally.

Pham Gia Tuc noted that upon completion, the project will enhance cargo clearance capacity, create development momentum for the logistics system in the southern region, and support Ho Chi Minh City's goal of achieving double-digit economic growth in the future.
