en.Wedoany.com Reported - BNSF Railway has announced the expansion of its intermodal service connecting the Phoenix metropolitan area with Dallas-Fort Worth, offering shippers a faster, more cost-effective freight option between two of the fastest-growing markets in the U.S. Southwest.

The enhanced service is designed to convert highway truck freight to rail, with transit times from train departure to cargo availability of just over three days between Phoenix and North Texas. Driven by rising customer demand, the service now operates six days a week.

Jon Gabriel, group vice president of BNSF's Consumer Products division, stated that as the domestic peak shipping season approaches, more customers are seeking capacity solutions while continuing to manage transportation costs. This service expansion responds to rapidly changing market conditions and offers a solution that combines reliable transit, access to key markets, and the advantages of intermodal transportation.

The move comes as railroads actively compete for freight traditionally moved by truck, particularly ahead of the domestic peak season, when shippers face tighter capacity and higher highway rates. Building on its investment in service reliability and frequency, the Phoenix–Dallas-Fort Worth corridor has become a key lane in the carrier's intermodal network.

The service operates through the Alliance Intermodal Facility in North Texas and provides access to a vast transportation ecosystem, substantial warehousing and distribution capacity, and a network connecting major consumer markets across the United States.

The expansion also lays the groundwork for future growth in Arizona. BNSF's second intermodal facility in the Phoenix area—Logistics Park Phoenix (LPP)—is currently under construction. Phase one of LPP is expected to open in early 2027 and is designed to support the region's continued economic growth and supply chain investment. LPP is part of BNSF's broader logistics park strategy, which combines industrial development with intermodal infrastructure to further enhance supply chain efficiency.

Gabriel noted that as freight capacity and demand continue to evolve, BNSF remains focused on investing in solutions that help customers grow alongside the company. The Phoenix and North Texas markets present significant opportunities for shippers, and this service expansion is another step toward delivering the infrastructure and transportation solutions needed to support that growth.
