en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Kota Bharu to Gombak section (Phase One) of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Malaysia, undertaken by a Chinese enterprise, entered the dynamic testing and fault-free operation stage on August 14.

Dynamic testing and fault-free operation are crucial steps before a railway is officially opened to traffic. During the testing period of approximately two months, comprehensive tests will be conducted on systems including track, communications, signaling, traction power supply, and rolling stock, to thoroughly verify the operational performance, safety, and reliability of the railway system.

Malaysian Minister of Transport Anthony Loke stated at the launch ceremony that as of July 2026, the overall construction progress of the ECRL project had exceeded 95%. Malaysia thanks the Chinese team for efficiently advancing the project, is confident in its successful completion, and will work to bring the railway into operation as soon as possible, allowing residents along the route to enjoy the convenience of rail travel at an early date.

Zhang Bingnan, General Manager of China Communications Construction Company Ltd., said that during the project's construction, both China and Malaysia worked hand in hand to deeply integrate Chinese technology, Chinese standards, and Chinese construction practices with Malaysia's actual needs, while also cultivating a group of local modern railway professionals. China will continue to strengthen cooperation with Malaysia, striving to build the ECRL into a landmark railway that stands the test of time.

Spanning 665 kilometers in total length, the ECRL project is a flagship initiative under China-Malaysia Belt and Road cooperation. Upon completion, it will greatly enhance connectivity along the route and drive economic development in Malaysia's east coast region.
