China's 171-km Xi'an-Ankang High-Speed Railway Enters Trial Operation by Timetable

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 20, the 55301 test train departed from Xi'an East Station, marking the Xi'an-Ankang High-Speed Railway's entry into the phase of trial operation by timetable. The train will operate according to the proposed timetable to test transportation organization, train dispatch, service frequency, and the stability of equipment systems.

The Xi'an-Ankang High-Speed Railway entered integrated commissioning and testing on June 27, launched full-line through testing on July 25, and completed integrated commissioning and testing on August 13, transitioning to operational testing. The operational testing period lasts no less than one month, sequentially covering timetable parameter testing, equipment failure simulations, emergency rescue drills, and train operation by timetable. The current phase of trial operation by timetable is a subsequent stage of operational testing.

During the integrated commissioning and testing period, the railway department, together with construction, design, and testing units, operated hundreds of test train runs, collecting data on track geometry, catenary power supply voltage, and signal response speed. The maximum test speed on the line reached 385 kilometers per hour, and fine rail grinding, tunnel cleaning, and equipment system adjustments were completed.

The newly built main line of the Xi'an-Ankang High-Speed Railway spans approximately 171 kilometers with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and a bridge-tunnel ratio of about 94%. The line has six stations: Xi'an East, Niubeiliang, Zhashui West, Zhen'an West, Tongmu, and Ankang West, among which Tongmu Station is a passing station and does not handle passenger services.

This line is an important component of the Baotou (Yinchuan)-Hainan Corridor and the Beijing-Kunming Corridor of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. Once operational, the rail travel time between Xi'an and Ankang will be reduced from approximately 3 hours to under 1 hour.
