The two sides held discussions on strengthening light industry disciplines, enhancing industry-education integration, cultivating industry talents, and serving high-quality development. Secretary Fan Jianwu expressed gratitude to CNLIC for its long-standing care and support for SUST and briefed the attendees on the university's recent reform and development. He noted that the university was born and thrives on light industry, always taking serving the development of the light industry as its mission. During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, the university will focus on building a strong education system, a strong science and technology sector, a strong talent pool, and a strong light industry nation. It will accelerate the construction of the "12356" large light industry framework, adhere to the core leadership of "light industry characteristics," drive forward with the dual engines of "digital intelligence empowerment and artistic value addition," deepen the synergy of "five chains," and strive for a "six-dimensional leap," aiming to become a high-level applied research university with distinctive light industry features. He hopes CNLIC will continue to provide guidance and support in areas such as industry-education integration and talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation, and research on light industry history and cultural heritage. He particularly requested increased support in jointly building talent cultivation bases, undertaking major scientific and technological projects, and hosting important industry conferences and events.
President Huang Jianfeng put forward specific suggestions on deepening inter-university cooperation and promoting the high-quality development of light industry education. He stated that SUST and CNLIC share a profound historical connection and close ties. Currently positioned as an applied, high-level research university, SUST boasts strong capabilities in disciplines such as light industry, materials, and food science. President Huang expressed the hope that CNLIC would support the university in hosting next year's National Light Industry Education Conference and provide more support in areas such as scientific and technological achievement appraisal, application for key projects, recruitment and cultivation of academicians, and party building cooperation. He also called for joint efforts to advance light industry skills training and vocational competency evaluation.
