en.Wedoany.com Reported - Dutch crane rental company Kuiphuis has recently taken delivery of the country's first 450-ton Liebherr LTM1400-6.1 crane.

This six-axle crane is equipped with a six-section 70-meter main boom, features the Y-Guy Superlift system, and offers various lattice jib and boom configuration options, including a 45.5-meter luffing jib (maximum lifting height of approximately 120 meters) or an 80.5-meter luffing jib (maximum lifting height of up to 140 meters).

The new equipment bears the logos of both Kuiphuis and van.Marwijk, as Kuiphuis completed the acquisition of van.Marwijk's fleet in March this year. Shortly after the crane arrived, while operators were still undergoing familiarization training, they were immediately tasked with a major lifting operation: installing a large prefabricated basement module weighing 73 tons—a suitable challenge for a brand-new 400-ton class crane.

The Kuiphuis and van.Marwijk teams immediately began planning, using Liebherr's advanced 3D planning software, Crane Planner 2.0, to simulate the entire operation in detail. The software allowed the team to pre-simulate the crane's configuration, ground pressure, and precise lifting radius before the crane left the yard. The total load weight for this lift (including rigging) was 75 tons, with a required lifting radius of 13.48 meters. The main boom was extended to approximately 18 meters, with a tip height of less than 17 meters, and the crane was equipped with 130 tons of counterweight.

The company commented that the LTM1400-6.1, with its compact design and fast setup time, demonstrates why it is considered the new standard in the six-axle crane segment. The basement module was positioned with extreme precision and ease. This first lift provided an excellent practical start for the operators, allowing them to immediately experience the crane's finesse in real-world operations. The Kuiphuis family business began in 1908 as a grocery and cigar store, later transitioning into machinery and rental operations. It was acquired by the current owner, the Bruijsten family, in 1985, and has achieved steady and significant growth over the past decade through organic expansion and acquisitions. The company now operates a mixed fleet that includes a large number of mobile self-erecting tower cranes.
