en.Wedoany.com Reported - Caterpillar Inc. announced on August 17, 2026, in Irving, Texas, that it is launching its workforce commitment in Arkansas alongside Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, investing up to $3 million in the state to help prepare workers for modern manufacturing and industrial technician roles. This investment is part of Caterpillar's five-year, $100 million "Building the Future Workforce Initiative" and marks the fifth grant awarded under the program since its launch.

Christy Pambianchi, Caterpillar's Chief Human Resources Officer, stated that every community has the talent to build a strong manufacturing workforce, and investments like this help create more opportunities for that talent to grow and succeed. She noted that Arkansas is demonstrating exciting momentum in the industry, and this commitment will help establish the training pathways and programs needed to prepare workers for future careers in modern manufacturing.

As Caterpillar continues to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities in the United States, Arkansas is viewed as one of its growth opportunities. Caterpillar currently employs more than 530 people in Arkansas and works with 60 suppliers across the state.

Governor Sanders stated that you cannot build the industries of the future without the workforce to support them. Caterpillar understands that the future of manufacturing depends on investing in people as much as in technology. This program directly aligns training with employer needs, giving more Arkansans the skills to enter high-paying careers while giving businesses more reasons to invest, expand, and create jobs in the state.

Caterpillar's facility in North Little Rock began production in 2010, initially specializing in motor grader manufacturing before expanding its product line to include medium wheel loaders and paving products. The facility is adopting modern manufacturing technologies to improve efficiency, quality, speed, and cost, and has become a safety leader, being one of the first plants to adopt technology to protect team member safety.

This commitment will strengthen collaboration among Arkansas training institutions, students, employers, and other key community organizations, ensuring individuals have access to affordable, career-relevant training. Program elements include expanding hands-on manufacturing pathways for students, enhancing technical training capacity in the region, and deepening employer partnerships with leading organizations such as the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College, the Little Rock Regional Chamber, and the Academies of Central Arkansas.

This is the fifth grant awarded under the program since its launch, following previous launches in Indiana, Texas, and Illinois, and including an innovation challenge.
