en.Wedoany.com Reported - Crescent Constructors has secured a contract valued at approximately $89 million to expand the aeration basins at the Prairie Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Lewisville, Texas. The project was announced on June 30 through the Texas Bid Network, with the core objective of increasing the plant's daily treatment capacity from 12 million gallons to 16 million gallons.

According to the announcement, Crescent Constructors will expand the aeration basins and demolish some existing facilities to make room for the work, while also constructing a new blower building. The scope of work also includes rehabilitating existing influent structures, aeration basins, and related buildings for return activated sludge and waste activated sludge, along with associated piping, electrical, control, and site modification work.

The wastewater treatment plant must remain operational during construction. To this end, Crescent Constructors plans to phase the project, simultaneously completing the integration of electrical and control systems, and coordinating planned shutdowns with supplier representatives to minimize operational disruptions. The entire expansion project is expected to be completed by November 2028.

Crescent Constructors, headquartered in Plano, Texas, secured this project after being acquired in September by Zachry Construction, based in San Antonio. Through this acquisition, Zachry Construction entered the water infrastructure sector, aiming to establish a stronger foothold in the rapidly growing water market.

This expansion is the first step in Lewisville's plan to meet future capacity demands. According to a press release from the city, the long-term goal for the facility is to increase daily treatment capacity to 20 million gallons. Data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that Lewisville's population is estimated at approximately 139,000, having grown 10.6% since April 2020.
