en.Wedoany.com Reported - Grampian Housing Association has launched an affordable housing project on the former site of Braeside Primary School in Aberdeen, building 30 energy-efficient homes for social rent.

In partnership with Malcolm Allan Housebuilders, the project includes 20 three-bedroom and 10 four-bedroom homes, some of which feature accessibility facilities and parking spaces. The total cost is £7.8 million, with £4.8 million funded by the Scottish Government's Affordable Housing Supply Programme grant, and the remainder raised through the housing association's existing facilities with the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).
Craig Stirrat, Group Chief Executive of Grampian Housing Association, said the project, located near the city center, represents a rare opportunity to address local housing demand, with homes expected to be completed by spring 2027. He thanked Aberdeen City Council and the Scottish Government for their support, ensuring the association can deliver quality affordable housing.
Bruce Allan of Malcolm Allan noted that significant efforts were made by all parties to advance the development, and all are satisfied that the project has finally commenced. He also stated that delivery will be on time and within budget, working closely with partners, subcontractors, and suppliers to provide housing in central Aberdeen amid the current housing crisis.
