en.Wedoany.com Reported - Vast Infraestrutura has signed a new long-term contract with Petrobrás for oil transshipment operations at the T-Oil terminal in Porto do Açu, located in northern Rio de Janeiro state. This is the first agreement to adopt a take-or-pay model, with both parties establishing minimum infrastructure usage commitments to enhance operational predictability and capacity assurance.

Victor Snabaitis Bomfim, CEO of Vast, stated that the new contract reflects the mutual trust built between the two companies during their collaboration and reinforces T-Oil's strategic role in Brazil's oil exports. The take-or-pay model will improve the efficiency of Petrobrás's export operations.

The T-Oil terminal is currently Brazil's largest ship-to-ship oil transshipment facility. According to data from the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq), the facility completed 229 transshipment operations in 2025, accounting for over 48% of Brazil's total crude oil exports from terminals.

Located near Brazil's main oil-producing basins, the terminal holds a license to handle up to 1.8 million barrels of oil per day. The terminal features three berths (South, Central, and North), with the Central and North berths capable of receiving Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) with a capacity of up to 2 million barrels of oil. The South berth currently operates Suezmax vessels with a capacity of up to 1 million barrels. Starting this year, the South berth will also begin handling VLCC-class vessels to enhance the terminal's overall operational capacity.

T-Oil currently serves 11 oil and gas companies operating in Brazil, including BW Energy, CNOOC, Equinor, ExxonMobil, Galp, Petrobrás, PetroChina, PETRONAS, PRIO, Shell, and TotalEnergies.
