Sun PhuQuoc Airways to Launch Direct Shanghai–Ho Chi Minh City Route on October 15
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 17, Sun PhuQuoc Airways and its official general agent for East China and North China, Beijing Xianghe International Transportation Service Co., Ltd., announced that they will launch a direct Shanghai–Ho Chi Minh City route. According to the current plan, the route will make its maiden flight on October 15, 2026, operating 7 flights per week, becoming the airline's first daily direct route connecting mainland China and Vietnam.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways also announced subsequent plans for expanding its Shanghai routes, with plans to launch a Shanghai–Hanoi route in November 2026 and a Shanghai–Phu Quoc Island route in March 2027, gradually forming a route network connecting Shanghai with southern Vietnam, northern Vietnam, and the Phu Quoc Island tourism market.
From the perspective of the airline's international route layout, Sun PhuQuoc Airways obtained an expanded air operator certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam in November 2025, enabling it to operate international commercial flights in the MID/ASIA region. In 2026, the company has successively advanced international routes to Seoul, Taipei, Busan, and Kaohsiung, and continues to expand into the mainland China market.
The airline currently mainly uses Airbus A320neo and A321neo series aircraft. Its official information shows that the company has continued to increase its fleet size after obtaining international operating permits, providing capacity for its international route expansion in 2026.
Mainland China is currently also a key market for Sun PhuQuoc Airways' international network expansion. In addition to the Shanghai route, the airline also plans to add routes such as Phu Quoc Island–Shenzhen during the 2026 winter-spring flight season, further expanding direct coverage between China and Vietnam.
