en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indonesian telecommunications infrastructure and network operator MoraRepublic, along with Chinese submarine cable company HMN Tech, announced the completion of factory acceptance testing for the wet-end equipment of the Moratelindo International Cable System-3 (MIC-3).

The MIC-3 submarine cable is planned to connect Singapore and Batam via two 32FP branching units equipped with 16FP optical switching technology. These branching units will enable MoraRepublic to extend the MIC-3 submarine cable to other destinations such as Jakarta.

According to HMN, its optical switching technology allows the MIC-3 submarine cable to support flexible access for two 16FP systems. This capability facilitates precise switching between trunk and branch segments and allows the system to scale bandwidth according to future demands.

MoraRepublic (formerly known as Moratelindo before its planned merger with MyRepublic Indonesia by the end of 2025) stated that the MIC-3 submarine cable will enhance digital infrastructure connectivity within the Singapore-Johor-Batam corridor and support the development of artificial intelligence and data centers in the Southeast Asian region.

MoraRepublic Chief Technology Officer Michael C. McPhail said that the MIC-3 submarine cable project is a key strategic initiative for regional digital connectivity. It provides a high-capacity gateway for Indonesia to connect to Singapore, and through reserved flexible branching capabilities, it can achieve broader high-capacity network coverage in the future, injecting new vitality into the regional digital economy.
