en.Wedoany.com Reported - YIT has signed an agreement with the Vaasa Student Housing Foundation (VOAS) to construct new student apartments in Palosaari, Vaasa. The project is a design-build contract, with the contractor also responsible for the project design. Construction is scheduled to start in the summer of 2026 and be completed by the summer of 2028. The total value of the contract for YIT is approximately €15 million, which will be recorded in the order book for the third quarter of 2026.

The apartment building has a gross floor area of approximately 7,000 square meters and includes a total of 207 studio and one-bedroom units. The first 60 apartments will be completed by the summer of 2027, with the remainder finished by the summer of 2028. The project design meets energy class A requirements.

"We are very pleased to finally begin construction in this area together with YIT. When the unsuitable row houses are demolished and replaced with a modern, energy-efficient building, the area will undergo a significant transformation, and its maintenance costs will be considerably more cost-effective than the current area," said Marko Ylimäki, CEO of the Vaasa Student Housing Foundation.
