Offshore towage specialist Kotug International and its partner Maritalia have been selected by energy major BP to provide marine services to the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project.

The contract is a long-term fixed contract, with extension options, to provide marine services to one of Africa’s deepest subsea developments located on the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal.

Wedoany.com Report-Nov 1, Kotug will deploy four 32-meter, RAstar azimuth stern drive, IMO Tier III compliant, tugboats to support the offshore hub terminal, FLNG, and FPSO operations, while Senegal-based Maritalia will fulfil local content requirements.

Kotug Senegal contributes to the employment and training of Mauritanian and Senegalese nationals. All candidates will be trained to progress through the ranks until all positions on the vessels are held by local crew, including all officers.

Located on the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal, GTA is being developed as a gas field with a 30-year production potential. The initial phase is expected to deliver approximately 2.5 mtpa of natural gas. GTA is estimated to contain more than 15 tcf of potentially recoverable gas resources.

The project will produce gas from an ultra-deepwater subsea system and an FPSO which will process the gas. The gas will be exported through a 35 km pipeline to an FLNG facility, where it will be transferred to LNG carriers.
