en.Wedoany.com Reported - WFN Strategies has been awarded a contract by Hawaiian Telcom to provide owner's representative services for its Kunoa North submarine cable system.

Under the agreement, WFN Strategies will deploy an experienced offshore owner's representative to oversee marine operations during the Kunoa North marine route survey scheduled for 2026, and provide support through the cable installation activities planned for 2028. WFN personnel will serve as Hawaiian Telcom's onboard representatives, monitoring contractor performance, verifying compliance with contractual, technical, safety, and environmental requirements, and providing independent reporting throughout project execution.

Kunoa North represents a significant investment in Hawaii's communications infrastructure, aimed at enhancing inter-island connectivity, improving network resilience, and providing additional long-term digital capacity for residents, businesses, government agencies, and critical services across the Hawaiian Islands. This project marks another important step in the ongoing modernization of Hawaiian Telcom's infrastructure.

Wayne Nielsen, Managing Director of WFN Strategies, stated that the company's team looks forward to working closely with Hawaiian Telcom to deliver Kunoa North safely, efficiently, and with high quality. He emphasized that submarine cable systems are among the world's most critical infrastructure assets, and effective owner representation is essential for ensuring successful offshore execution.

Since its founding in 2001, WFN Strategies has supported over 225 submarine telecommunications infrastructure projects globally, providing engineering, procurement, implementation, project management, marine assurance, and owner's representative services to commercial, government, hyperscale, and offshore energy sectors. The company's marine experts have extensive experience supporting marine route surveys, cable installation, repair, commissioning activities, and operational oversight across the Pacific and around the world.

As Hawaiian Telcom's independent representative on survey and installation vessels, WFN will provide real-time operational oversight, contractor coordination, progress verification, safety observations, issue escalation, and detailed reporting to ensure project activities align with contractual obligations and project objectives. Leveraging WFN's PM 2.0® reporting framework and integrated ISO-certified management system, the company will provide Hawaiian Telcom with continuous operational visibility and rigorous project governance throughout execution.

This contract award further solidifies WFN Strategies' position as a leading provider of independent owner's representative and implementation support services for global submarine cable systems. Kunoa North is the latest addition to the company's growing portfolio of critical communications infrastructure projects supported in the Indo-Pacific region, complementing ongoing projects in Alaska and across the Pacific, as well as major international implementation support programs including El Salvador's first submarine cable system.
