en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazilian natural gas pipeline operator Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil (TBG) signed a "Natural Gas Transportation Commitment Agreement" (Termo de Compromisso para Contratação de Transporte Firme de Gás Natural) with the UTE Paulínia Verde thermoelectric plant in the municipality of Paulínia, São Paulo state, in June 2026. The document was signed in accordance with the procedural requirements of the tender notice No. 2/2026 issued by the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), concerning the Capacity Reserve Power Auction (Leilão de Reserva de Capacidade na forma de Potência, LRCAP 2026). The agreement defines the commitments of both parties regarding the supply of natural gas to the plant, scheduled to commence on August 1, 2026, which coincides with the start date of electricity availability stipulated in the auction contract.

TBG and Paulínia Verde Thermoelectric Plant Sign Commitment for LRCAP 2026 Natural Gas Transportation

TBG is the operator of the Bolivia-Brazil Natural Gas Pipeline (Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil), responsible for transporting natural gas produced in Bolivia to the main consumer markets in southeastern Brazil. UTE Paulínia Verde is being developed by a joint venture formed by Mercúrio Partners, Orizon VR, and Gera Energia. Initially built as a biomethane power generation project, the plant contracted 23.38 megawatts (MW) of natural gas-fired capacity in the 2026 LRCAP auction.

TBG stated that the signing of this agreement marks progress in meeting the auction's regulatory requirements, ensuring the availability of the infrastructure needed for project operations. For UTE Paulínia Verde, formalizing this agreement is a key step in meeting LRCAP 2026 requirements and maintaining the timeline for commercial operations launch. The commitment further strengthens industrial synergy between Brazil's natural gas and electricity sectors. The agreement was officially disclosed on July 7, 2026. Through this move, TBG solidifies its position as a key player in Brazil's energy transportation infrastructure, while UTE Paulínia Verde achieves a critical milestone toward the commissioning and operation of its thermoelectric project in the municipality of Paulínia.
