en.Wedoany.com Reported - The number of beneficiaries of solar distributed generation (DG) in Brazil has exceeded 8 million, a milestone confirmed by data updated on the 7th by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). This figure comes less than six months after the Brazilian market reached 7 million users in January 2026.

Canal Solar - Solar energy benefits over 8 million users in Brazil

By state distribution, Minas Gerais leads the country with 1.92 million users, followed by São Paulo (1.05 million) and Rio Grande do Sul (565,000). Among consumers benefiting from solar DG plant credits, residential users account for the largest share at 5.1 million, followed by commercial facilities with 1.85 million, rural users with 808,000, and industrial users with 171,000. In the first half of 2026, the national market added approximately 413,000 new users.

ANEEL noted that surpassing 8 million beneficiaries does not equate to the number of solar systems installed nationwide. The user count includes all consumers receiving energy credits from DG systems, covering residential, commercial, rural, and industrial users. The number of DG systems is smaller, as a single plant can serve multiple users through models such as remote self-consumption and shared generation. Currently, Brazil has slightly over 4.53 million installed DG systems, benefiting more than 8 million users.
