Trina Solar Supplies 3MWp PV and 10MWh Energy Storage to Vietnam, Commissioned in September
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Trina Solar, in partnership with Vietnamese renewable energy enterprise Nam Viet Green Energy JSC, will supply 3MWp of Vertex N-type 725W PV modules and a 10MWh Trina Storage Elementa 2 battery energy storage system for the Corona Resort on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam. The project is expected to be connected to the grid and commissioned by mid-September.

The Corona Resort is one of Vietnam's leading integrated resort destinations, encompassing tourism, hospitality, and leisure entertainment, with substantial daily energy demands. The project adopts Vertex N-type modules featuring i-TOPCon technology, paired with a 10MWh Elementa 2 energy storage system, representing a storage expansion and upgrade for an existing PV project. Once commissioned, the project will combine PV generation with storage regulation capabilities to enhance on-site solar consumption and reduce peak electricity loads, enabling commercial and industrial users to strengthen refined energy cost management while also contributing to the resilience of the local power supply.
The implementation of this project reflects the accelerating industry trend of PV-storage integration in Vietnam. Under the revised Power Development Plan VIII, Vietnam has raised its 2030 battery storage installation target to 10,000MW–16,300MW, accounting for approximately 5.5% to 6.9% of the country's planned total installed power generation capacity by 2030. Battery storage is playing an increasingly important role in facilitating the consumption of wind and solar power, enhancing power system dispatchability, and strengthening energy security.
The Corona project is being advanced against the backdrop of continuously rising electricity demand in Vietnam and a growing need for power system flexibility, also showcasing emerging opportunities in the country's renewable energy market: empowering existing PV assets with storage technology can unlock additional value from existing solar investments and generate extra commercial returns.
A project representative from Nam Viet Green Energy JSC stated that this project demonstrates how advanced PV and storage technologies can efficiently adapt to the energy needs of large-scale commercial facilities in Vietnam. Leveraging its expertise in the PV and storage sectors, Trina Solar provided in-depth guidance on storage system configuration and operational solutions, helping to deliver a solution that meets both the technical and commercial objectives of the project.
Wang Zhengzheng, Head of Trina Solar's Southeast Asia business, stated that retrofitting existing PV systems with storage for expansion and upgrades is an emerging development direction in Vietnam's renewable energy market. Through its high-reliability PV and storage product portfolio, system-level technical expertise, and localized project execution experience, Trina Solar will achieve deep synergy between PV and storage, helping Vietnamese partners build PV-storage projects that combine generation efficiency with grid regulation flexibility.
