en.Wedoany.com Reported - Peru's National Environmental Certification Authority for Sustainable Investments (Senace) has approved the "Fifth Technical Support Report for the Third Modification of the Detailed Environmental Impact Study for the Constancia Mine" submitted by Hudbay Perú S.A.C. This document confirms the adjustments to the mine's environmental management.
The certification was formalized on June 25, 2026, through Director's Resolution No. 00101-2026-SENACE-PE/DEAR. The project is located in the districts of Chamaca, Velille, and Livitaca in the province of Chumbivilcas, department of Cusco.
The modifications proposed in the Fifth Technical Support Report (ITS) include adjustments to the open pit and processing plant, as well as optimizations to the tailings transport system and internal water management. Additionally, the expansion of facilities such as the rail yard is planned.
Hudbay Perú S.A.C.'s technical proposal complies with the technical and legal requirements of the "Regulations for Environmental Protection and Management in Mining Extraction, Processing, General Engineering, Transport, and Storage Activities," established under Supreme Decree No. 040-2014-EM and Ministerial Resolution No. 120-2014-MEM-DM.
Technical Support Reports are key tools in environmental management, used to approve modifications or expansions in investment projects, provided these adjustments do not result in significant environmental impacts or constitute technical improvements, thereby ensuring compliance with current environmental regulations.
