en.Wedoany.com Reported - Philippine telecommunications operators PLDT and DITO Telecommunity have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share network infrastructure in the Philippines, aiming to expand nationwide coverage more cost-effectively.

Under the agreement, the two companies will share telecommunications infrastructure without mutual payment, granting each other reciprocal rights to use eligible tower sites. The MoU also includes in-building solution (IBS) co-location, enabling both parties to share telecom infrastructure in commercial buildings and other indoor locations, as well as sharing submarine cable capacity through Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) arrangements. This initiative aims to help both operators save on network infrastructure deployment costs while reducing equipment duplication.
PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan stated that connecting the nation is a shared responsibility among Philippine telecom companies, and this agreement reflects that, allowing cooperation on the most critical aspect—accelerating digital inclusion and helping connect every Filipino—even amid market competition. DITO Telecommunity President and CEO Eric Alberto added that this partnership allows both companies to provide better services to their respective customers.
PLDT, which provides mobile services through its subsidiary Smart Communications, and DITO are two of the three major telecom operators in the Philippines, the other being Globe Telecom. PLDT has approximately 66 million mobile subscribers, while DITO, which aims to challenge the PLDT and Globe duopoly, has around 17 million users.
